Family to Family - A Fresh Recipe for Greater Joy

When my youngest son was three years old, he started taking swimming lessons. Going under water was slightly traumatic for him.

After the first lesson, he came home and exclaimed, "Mom! I drowned FIVE TIMES today!" Dylan is 6 now and loves to swim!

Appreciation Time!

Emily's brother was going skiing. Just in case he got caught in an avalance, she drew him a map so he could escape.
The best part of Christmas Eve is the hope we have for each others wishes. I was like a balloon — safe from blowing away inside my sisters hand.

This Week's Sunny-Side Up
Terrible two's. Where did the line "terrible two's" come from? Let's flip the dish to "toddlers brailling the world." Leo Buscaglia wrote, this is a beautiful thing to watch. Toddlers embracing life with enthuse.

Selfless Brotherly Love by Nancy

One night soon after our daughter had been placed with us, she was sleeping while I was putting my son Jake to bed. As he lay there in the dark, he asked me "Mom, who do you love more?  Me or Elise?" As my mind raced through each loving response—there's room in my heart for both of you— I've been loving you alone for 7 years—I couldn't love either of you any more than I do, my little man's voice said, "Mom, you need to love Elise as much as you love me." Jake had recently turned 8 and if he had been 80, he could not have been more wise. His selfless answer still resonates just as if that yester-night was this very moment.

Mom? I don't think I'm going to pick "one" thing I want to be when I grow up. I think I am going to let it pick me. Kyle, age 13.
My sister was afraid of drowning when she was little. So she said, "when I go under water I will put 1 finger in the air if I am okay and 2 fingers if I am drowning."
"Fingins' and Coneheads" (Fingers and foreheads), Marissa, Age 4.
"I love you. I hope you love me too." (A note from my 5-year-old to my fiance.)
"She's just my size!" Erin, age 3, holding her new baby sister for the very first time.

Exceptional Parents and Children Whose Faith has Touched the Hearts of Others

Meet Mary Lingle.

I thought I already had done that in December when I contracted her company to design the Dishing with Debbie website. Then, in February, I really met Mary, the mom. And I was moved by her faith walk. Here is Mary's incredible story of hope for others. From the cover of the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

A Mother's Loss Brings Her Face To Face With Baby She Helped Save

Two-year-old Candice Lingle painted with watercolors, did cartwheels and tumbled with her sister on a Sunday in early November 1993.

But that evening she went to bed early with a cold, not feeling well enough to eat dinner.

On Monday her parents took her to the pediatrician, and then to a Longview hospital for fluids where she suddenly had a seizure.

Family's Flipping the Dish
What began as a hope for celebrating what children are for, has become a smorgasbord for sharing family joy.

Hi, I'm Debbie Davis. As a mother of two, I know family life can be filled with challenges. I also know it can be over flowing with laughter. Three years ago, I nearly lost my daughter. It sends a shiver up my spine, to know how close that came. When she was little, we were best buds. Then one day, she hated me.

Interestingly, during that time, I was told that all teens rebel. By the grace of God, I stumbled across a fresher recipe for greater joy.

I wanted to share that recipe with every mother I knew. Especially, since the ingredients were as easy as flipping the dish and celebrating family- together.

Please send in your favorite pictures, captions, poems, stories, artwork...anything that makes your heart sing will make our heart sing too!
