Debbie's Simply Fave French Toast

Note from Debbie: This is a delicious back to school recipe. If you are into the magic of mornings, here is a quick and easy delight I think you will love.

Ingredients

4 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon orange extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
8 slices "Texas toast" or soft, thick bread slices
Powdered sugar
Maple syrup

Instructions

Whisk eggs into large mixing bowl. Add the milk, orange and vanilla extracts plus the pinch of salt, and whisk until well combined. Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture one slice at a time, turning it to coat both sides with the mixture. (Tip: Cover working area with a sheet of parchment paper. This way, you will have a clean surface for dripping and also for lying coated bread slices as they wait for their turn in the frying pan!) . Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat until hot, about 3 to 5 minutes. Melt a 1/2 teaspoon of butter in the skillet, spread it with a paper towel over bottom of pan, then add a slices of coated bread, and cook until the bread is golden brown and crusted on the bottom, about 2 minutes. Turn with a plastic turner and cook until the second side is golden, about 1 to 11/2 minutes. Here's a tip: Preheat the oven to 200 before beginning french toast. This way as slices finish cooking, you can lay them on a baking sheet and cover lightly with aluminum foil to keep warm. Sprinkle the French toast with confectioners' sugar. Serve with warm
maple syrup. Garnish with thin "half-moon" orange slices. enJOY!!
