I'd Rather Be Dishing!
Welcome to my blog! My name is Debbie Davis. I have two children. A daughter 23, son 14. This blog is where I dish about my overcooked daze... Once I even grounded my daughter by taking away her alarm clock. She was like, "Cool! Now I can oversleep for school." I have learned a better recipe since then. Like perhaps the reason children do not come with instruction booklets is because they are the instruction booklet. These stories are the ingredients that got our family out of dysfunction, and into having too much fun together again.
My first cake...
Skokie, Illinois, third grade, couldn't read fractions yet. I presumed 3/4 meant "three to four cups". So I added that much water. The result was a bit soupy. My dad told me I could swim in four cups. I tried it. I dumped 32 ounces into the bathtub. Never told my dad he was wrong; figured he couldn't do math either.
I do... I do...
My husband Ken and I fell in love at baggage claim...after a school reunion. We have known each other since 5th grade. Back then he was a foot shorter than me, had long hair and rode a banana seat bike.
Two for Two...
Two children; a daughter and son who believe my husband and I were dorks in the 1980's - especially dad in his ultra-short denim cut-offs. And me with chunky enamel hoops sporting even bigger hair. Daughter Marissa is a talented actress; having appeared on Friday Night Lights. She is a Suma Cum Laude graduate and sings the blues like an old soul. Son Kyle is an awesome left-handed pitcher, and whoa! That middle-schooler can play the piano. He is also the comedian of the family.
What do I enJOY?
Besides cheering my family on? And thinking of fun ways for you to be part of my show? I guess that answer would be looking for silver linings behind every chocolate chip. Why? Because life is more entertaining inside out - especially motherhood - and it is time to share those positively optimistic ingredients!
