What was I thinking when I wasn’t thinking?
Accidental parenting. Apparently this is what I was doing before I discovered I was an overcooker. Who knew that my good intentions were going to come back and haunt me? I thought my valiant efforts to wrap my daughter like a mummy and keep her stain-free was heroic… After all, she might want her own daughter to wear these treasures from K-Mart one day.
I do not know why this tradition was important to me. I was too busy to ponder stuff like that back then. Maybe it had something to do with my mother selling my Barbie dolls when we moved from Illinois to Texas.
Dot to dot.
Going through old storage boxes, I found Marissa’s baby clothes. I squealed, “Look! I found all her baby stuff with no stains!” I proudly waved a yellow bunny dress.
No quicker had I waved this trophy, Marissa ran to our driveway in a gigantic tizzy. Now 14. Tizzy’s are not so cute.
“Mommmm!” She pointed to a teensy orange something on her t-shirt. “Kyle flung the orange juice thinking it was funny and it splattered everywhere. Now it’s ruined. You’re going to have to buy me a new shirt.”
Huh? Buy her a new one? Where did she get that silly idea? Oops! More dot to dots.
(I tell you this. Finding a bunny dress stained with blue chalk and brownies would have probably been more fun than finding one without.)

I have BOXES and BOXES of my kids baby clothes - I don’t know why I’m saving all those clothes.
Have a good Thursday - see you - Kellan
Oh my.. I think I still have a few boxes of kidlet clothes in my basement.. and my baby just turned 18!
Funny post.. looks like I have another blog to track.
Hi gorgeous woman!!! Thanks for checking out my place! Your first post I see…and I’m hooked! It’s funny the little things about babyhood you kind of forget about! Bibs. My oh my. Yes. I was addicted. I kept a stash in the bag, plus disposable bibs in case we ran out of cloth. And I became obsessed with velcro bibs…the tie-on’s were too darn time consuming! Maybe it’s a baby girl thing? Were you like this with your son, too? I only have girls so that’s all I have to base it off of!!!!
I used to save everything she wore that wasn’t ruined for whatever reason or another. Once I had my 2nd child (a boy) I gave away all the girl clothes to the first friend who was pregnant with a girl. I did save a few things - the outfit she wore home from the hospital, the dress she wore for her first Christmas (which was *supposed* to be coming home outfit but she was tooooooo itty bitty). Some socks (?!?), and a hankie that converted to a cap - I wore it home from hospital and then carried it when I wed, she wore it home from hospital and will (hopefully) carry it down the aisle too.
I only ever used bibs when the kids ate but I must admit that it was only on a couple of occasions. Can’t like this things. Can’t be nice for a child to wear lol
